Two jets in a crisis? Oppong Nkrumah presses the brakes HARD!

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, a member of parliament who represents the Ofoase-Ayeribi constituency, has called on the government to refrain from making the purchase of two new presidential planes a priority at a time when the nation is grappling with significant economic and social issues. On December 2, 2025, he spoke to the audience of GTV’s Breakfast Show and said that Ghana is still in the process of recovering from a challenging economic era. During this time, the nation’s inhabitants were contending with inadequate healthcare, increasing rates of unemployment, and infrastructure projects that were left unfinished. He claimed that placing an emphasis on the President’s comfort gives out the incorrect signal and demanded that people pay attention to pressing concerns that are affecting the country as a whole. In addition, Oppong Nkrumah attacked the politics of presidential travel, pointing out the irony of the fact that the same people who were earlier against replacing the old plane are now advocating for the acquisition of two new jets. Instead of continuing to treat these issues as political pawns, he called on political leaders to concentrate their efforts on devising strategies that would benefit Ghanaians by improving their access to employment, infrastructure, and healthcare.
