Ntim Fordjour Demands Full SHS Curriculum Review (NaCCA Recalls Manuals Over Gender Identity Row!)
Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, who used to be the Deputy Minister of Education, has asked for a full review of the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum and all the teaching materials that go with it. This is because there are concerns about a controversial definition of gender identity in the Physical Education and Health teachers’ manual. He said on Joy FM’s Top Story on Tuesday, “It must be properly looked at and comprehensively reviewed.” There is a whole process. After a curriculum is created, all the teaching and learning materials that go along with it, like the teachers’ manual, textbooks, and extra materials, are made from it. You don’t sneak in or smuggle things from other countries into it. The MP from Assin South asked where the 2025-copyrighted manual came from. It was printed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) and the Ministry of Education. He said, “They must explain.” There is a lot of digging to do. He also said that important people need to explain how the material was made and spread: “We are all asking that the Minister and the NaCCA Director come and explain. They need to remember the manuals and make a statement. We haven’t seen any statement yet. At the same time, NaCCA has told all teachers who have the manual to send it back right away while the authorities deal with the issue.
