Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who used to be a Member of Parliament for Bantama in Ghana’s Fourth Republic’s Sixth Parliament as a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said he wants to run for the party’s General Secretary position. His campaign is based on integrity, participatory leadership, and strengthening party structures. Dr. Kokofu was born on October 5, 1960. He has held many important roles in politics, including Polling Station Chairman, Electoral Area Coordinator for North Suntreso, two-term Bantama Constituency Chairman, Ashanti Regional Finance Committee Chairman, Reconciliation Committee Secretary, and Election Committee Secretary. He has also been on both regional and national communication teams for 25 years. In addition to his work in politics, he has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority and held board positions at important state institutions. He has also built a career in academia and law as a lecturer at the University of Ghana and a partner at Amicus/Daniellen Chambers. Dr. Kokofu is a Barrister-at-Law with a PhD in Environmental Science and several other postgraduate degrees. He has also served as Ghana’s Presidential Special Envoy of the Climate Vulnerable Forum. He believes that his experience, emotional intelligence, and long-term service make him the best person to solve problems within the party and get the NPP ready for more electoral success. He is sure that delegates will choose him as the next General Secretary of the party.
