Mahama: AICC Refurb, New Events Centre to Make Ghana West Africa’s Top Conference Hub!
John Dramani Mahama has said that he wants Ghana to be West Africa’s top center for international events. To do this, he plans to quickly fix up the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) and build a new convention and creative events center through a public-private partnership. He told Parliament in his State of the Nation Address that the original contractors of the AICC have done a structural integrity assessment at the request of the Office of the Chief of Staff and will soon start renovations to bring the center back to life. He said that more world-class infrastructure is needed to bring in global conferences, exhibitions, and entertainment events. He also said that the State Banquet Hall, which has been closed for a few years, will be renovated.
