Internet is the new printing press, Sam George says digital freedom is now non-negotiable for Ghana’s democracy.

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has highlighted the critical role of digital infrastructure in protecting press freedom and deepening democratic governance in Ghana. Speaking in his capacity as sector minister, he noted that the internet has become the modern-day equivalent of the traditional printing press, making digital access and connectivity essential to safeguarding freedom of expression in the digital era. He stressed that just as press freedom was achieved through years of struggle and sacrifice, digital freedom must be deliberately protected and advanced through sound policy decisions and sustained investment in digital infrastructure.
