AGBODZA SAYS THE ROAD WILL BE READY BY MID-2026… KASOA RESIDENTS SAY ‘WE’LL BELIEVE IT WHEN WE DRIVE ON IT
Kwame Governs Agbodza, the Minister of Roads and Highways, has stated that the seaside highway stretch from Kasoa to Winemba should be finished by June 2026. Agbodza said on Channel One TV on November 24 that builders have promised that the project will be finished by the middle of 2026. The two-year Winneba–Mankessim part should be finished before 2027. He said that the path from Kasoa to Takoradi will be fully dualized once all the work is done. This will make it easier for people in the Greater Accra and Central Regions to get to each other. Three different companies work on the Kasoa–Winneba–Mankessim project, but the Cape Coast–Takoradi part is run by itself. Agbodza said that the piece from Winneba to Mankessim is being built next to the current road to make it two-lanes, and the Winneba exit, which wasn’t included at first, is now part of the plan. When talking about the traffic jams that happened this year on the Kasoa–Winneba stretch, he said that the delays were caused by mistakes in the planning of the construction, since work was being done on both the main road and the expansion at the same time. When it’s finished, the dual road should make journey along the coast easier, help trade, and make things smoother for drivers.
