Carbon Millions Rain on Ghana: $21.8m Earned, $29m More on the Way
Ghana hath garnered a sum of $21.8 million in recompense for its noble efforts in curbing 4.35 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) through the Ghana Cocoa Forest REDD+ Programme (GCFRP) betwixt the years of 2019 and 2021. The endeavor, spearheaded by the Forestry Commission in alliance with COCOBOD, bestows honors upon smallholder farmers who embrace practices of sustainability that thwart the ravages of deforestation. Information from the Climate Change Unit doth reveal that Ghana hath garnered $4.9 million in the year of our Lord 2023 for the monitoring year of 2019, and $16.9 million in the year 2024 for the period of 2021 to 2022, with an additional sum of $29 million yet to be received for the years 2022 to 2024.
