GAF Reloaded! Gov’t Rolls Out Mega Reforms to Boost Combat Readiness

In order to improve operational effectiveness and readiness for changing security threats, the government has announced a significant retooling and modernization of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). At the 2025 Land Combat Fire Power Demonstration (LCFPD) at Bundase on October 31, Deputy Minister for Defense Ernest Brogya Genfi launched the project, calling it one of the most significant changes in GAF history. In order to improve coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the Southern Command organized an exercise for Senior Division Course 47 students at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College. The exercise included a multi-domain battle simulation that covered land, sea, air, cyber, and space operations. Senior military leaders, defense attachés, and foreign visitors attended the ceremony, which highlighted Ghana’s contribution to regional security and peace. According to Mr. Genfi, the modernization initiative include building forward operating bases, constructing new units, and modernizing the infrastructure that currently exists. Modern communication technologies have already been purchased. He pointed out that the participation of officers from six African nations demonstrated Ghana’s commitment to regional stability. While praising the GAF’s professionalism and discipline, Genfi and Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil emphasized the importance of servicemen adhering to strict behavior standards in accordance with national law and military rules.
