Ghana to Train 100 Specialist Pharmacists (Boosting Care for NCDs, Safer Medicines)

Ghana wants to train 100 specialist pharmacists over the next three years to improve healthcare, especially when it comes to treating non-communicable diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. The goal of the initiative is to give pharmacists advanced skills so they can work closely with doctors and nurses. This is because pharmacists play a critical but often behind-the-scenes role in making sure that medications are used safely and effectively. A group led by Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Opoku-Darko visited the Ghana College of Pharmacists to start working together. The Rector, Dr. Yvonne Yirenkyiwaa Esseku, promised that the College would fully support the effort. The program’s goal is to make healthcare teams stronger and improve patient outcomes. This will help Ghana’s efforts to create a health system that is more responsive and saves lives.
