Ghana’s Gender Minister Leads Delegation to UN CSW70 (Focus on Justice, Women’s Rights)
The 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City from March 9 to 19, 2026. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Ghana’s Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, will lead the country’s official delegation. The UN’s main global intergovernmental platform for promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment is the Commission on the Status of Women. This year’s session is all about making sure that all women and girls can get justice by making legal systems more fair and open to everyone, getting rid of unfair laws, policies, and practices, and fixing structural problems. Member States, UN agencies, and civil society groups are all coming together for the meeting to talk about progress, new problems, and how to keep the world committed to gender equality. Ghana’s delegation includes technical experts from the relevant ministries, Members of Parliament, representatives from the Office of the President, academics, and people from NGOs and civil society groups that work on gender equality, social protection, and child welfare. Dr. Lartey is expected to make three official statements on behalf of Ghana during the opening dialogue, a ministerial roundtable discussion, and a high-level meeting. He will also take part in side events and bilateral meetings with international partners to show off Ghana’s progress and reaffirm its commitment to improving the rights and power of women and girls.
