IMANI Boss Hails CJ’s Ruling (Says Judiciary ‘Unshackled’ After EC, SP Petitions Dismissed)
Franklin Cudjoe, the founding president of IMANI Africa, has praised Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie for ruling that petitions asking for the removal of Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa, her deputies, and Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng did not make a prima facie case. He said the decision showed that the judiciary is not under the control of the executive. President John Dramani Mahama sent the petitions to the court under Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 15 of Act 959 to see if more action was needed. Cudjoe praised the decision in a Facebook post on February 18, 2026, saying, “The Judiciary is now truly unshackled,” and thanking both the Chief Justice and the President.
