IMANI’s Cudjoe: Ghana’s Economy Soars—‘One Day We’ll Lend to the IMF!
Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has a lot of faith in how Ghana has been running its economy lately. He says that the country is making such progress that it might not need international institutions to help it out anymore.
He praised changes in gold trading and fiscal management and thanked important people like GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiamah for their patriotism and work to make the economy better.
Mr. Cudjoe talked about how the GoldBod system has helped Ghana build up a lot of gold reserves, pay off debts, and make up for losses from the Gold-for-Oil program. He also said that Ghana’s debt-to-GDP ratio has dropped from 61% to 45% in just one year, thanks to careful financial management.
He said that these successes were clear proof of good economic policy and coordination. He even joked that Ghana might soon be able to lend money to the IMF to help countries that don’t have as much money.
