Mahama Drops Audit Bomb: Contractors, Procurement, Spending — Nothing Off the Table

In response to a National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) report, President John Mahama has instructed the Auditor-General to conduct a thorough forensic examination of the planning and administration of the 13th All-Africa Games. The goal of the directive is to encourage value for money, accountability, and openness in the event’s use of public resources. All operational and financial aspects of the audit, such as asset use, project execution, money management, procurement practices, and institutional coordination, will be covered. In particular, it will examine the value-for-money results of facilities built for the Games, contractor selection, compliance with the Public Procurement Act, and spending management. By the second week of December 2025, the Auditor-General is supposed to deliver the audit report to the President.
