NPP’s Kodua Slams NDC: “Broken Promises, More Galamsey, Intimidation & Judicial Interference!” Calls Out Abuse of Power as Ghanaians Await Real Change.

The administration of the National Democratic Congress has been criticized by Justin Kodua Frimpong, the general secretary of the New Patriotic Party, for not living up to the promises that it made during its campaign and for what he refers to as the increasing misuse of power. He said that in the year 2024, Ghanaians gave the National Democratic Congress a strong mandate to combat illicit mining, restore ethical government, and improve security; however, these expectations have yet to be delivered almost a year after the fact. His speech was given on December 3, 2025, at the time of the New Patriotic Party’s modified constitution unveiling. Kodua made the argument that the problem of galamsey has become worse and also accused the government of intimidating political opponents, silencing the critical media, and making use of official institutions to do so. In addition, he said that the administration is seeking to exert its influence on institutions that are not affiliated with the government, including the court, and that it has used the legal tactic of nolle prosequi in order to exonerate members of the party who have been charged with corruption. He made the assertion that the integrity of the judiciary had been compromised and that judges were now afraid to administer justice, citing the departure of Gertrude Torkonoo, who had previously held the position of Chief Justice.
