Ga South on Edge: Early-Morning Murder Sparks Fears of Something “Beyond Robbery”

Last Friday, suspected armed robbers in Ngleshie-Amanfro in Kasoa shot and killed a cab driver, only known as Kwame. Kwame was walking to a neighboring truck stop to pick up a car for work when the incident happened at American Farm at approximately five in the morning. He was ambushed by four armed guys on two motorcycles who demanded his phone, money, and luggage. He was shot in the ribs for resisting and trying to fight them. Locals saw that Kwame was collaborating with a contractor on the Kasoa to Winneba Road project and had lately ceased operating his cab. Although the attackers grabbed his stuff, witnesses characterized the assault as startling considering the early hour. However, some people think there may have been other motivations behind the crime than thievery.
