GRA teams up with the media: ‘Let’s teach Ghana how to tax right!

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is working more closely with the media to keep up its national tax education program. This is meant to get people to willingly pay their taxes and make reports. During a press conference in Accra, Commissioner-General Anthony Kwasi Sarpong talked about reforms that are being planned. These include making the VAT law easier to understand, separating taxes to lower business costs, and making changes to the Income Tax and Customs Acts. Mr. Sarpong stressed how important it was for people to be aware of tax issues and asked the media to make tax messages easier for people to understand and give comments to help GRA work better. He also made it clear that taxes on COVID-19, E-Levy, and gaming had been taken away. Reforms are now in place to make sure that fees like GETFund and NHIS don’t hurt businesses anymore, which could lead to lower prices for consumers and help everyone.
