Not Us!’ — Presidency Disowns Kissi Agyebeng & Jean Mensa Removal Petitions.

The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has refuted allegations that the Presidency is the driving force behind the many petitions that are calling for the dismissal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, EC Chair Jean Mensa, and her deputies. The idea that the endeavor had been organized by government officials arose as a result of the ten petitions that were submitted by private citizens and included allegations of concerns such as ineptitude and misuse of authority. Mr. Kwakye Ofosu gave a broadcast on Citi FM in which he refuted the aforementioned charges as being baseless and challenged those who made them to present proof. He was insistent that the government had no contact with the petitioners and that he had provided reassurance to the general public that any committee that was established in order to assess the petitions would operate in an impartial manner. In addition, he made it clear that it is the responsibility of the Chief Justice, not the President, to manage the procedure. He also made the point that, in accordance with the Constitution, every single one of the requests had previously been sent to the Chief Justice.
