NO VISA PANIC! GHANA OFF THE U.S. IMMIGRATION SUSPENSION LIST — ABLAKWA CONFIRMS.

After receiving a briefing from Acting US Ambassador Rolf Olson, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa emphasized that Ghana is not included in the most recent review of the United States’ Green Card program and temporary suspension of immigration. The discussions that took place on December 1st, 2025, confirmed that Ghana would not be excluded from the new measures, which included the restoration of five-year visas for Ghanaian travelers, the removal of 15% tariffs on cocoa and related products, preparations for supporters of the Ghanaian national team at the World Cup, and security cooperation under the Defense Cooperation Agreement, which included the sharing of intelligence and training using military aviation assets of the United States in coordination with Ghanaian authorities. The talks pertaining to trade under the African Growth and Opportunity Act are also ongoing. Ghana is not included on the list of nations that have been impacted by the United States, and the government has emphasized that all interactions with the United States are governed by national interest, despite the fact that no formal list of exempted countries has been made public by the United States.
