No Mercy: Minister Warns Ghanaians—Help Foreigners Get Passports, Face the Law!

Samuel Nartey George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has made it clear that security agencies will not spare anyone who helps foreigners get Ghanaian passports and Ghana Cards. He said that helping these people is a crime and that the law would deal harshly with any Ghanaians who did so, to deter others from doing the same. “I want to send a clear warning to Ghanaians who help people from other countries get Ghanaian citizenship through a passport or Ghana Card that this is a crime. We’re making a strong case for that. Please don’t do that if you are from Ghana. We beg you. “Please do the right thing,” he said during an interview on Channel One Newsroom on Saturday, December 27, 2025. His comments come after a number of intelligence-led operations by security agencies that targeted organized cybercrime networks in some parts of the country. On Saturday, December 27, 141 people were arrested in Lashibi and Tabora. The suspects were taken into custody in a planned early-morning operation that aimed to break up cybercrime groups that were involved in Mobile Money (MoMo) fraud and other financial crimes that could be done online in some areas of Accra. The Cyber Security Authority (CSA), the Ghana Police Service, National Security, and the Ghana Immigration Service all took part in the operation, which took place in important places in Tabora and Lashibi.
