Ken Ofori-Atta’s Lawyer: US Stay is Legal—Detention Not Linked to Illegal Immigration!
Source: Joyonline
Frank Davies, the lawyer for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, has said that his client is not illegally in the United States after being held by U.S. immigration officials. On Thursday, January 8, he told JoyNews’ The Pulse that Mr. Ofori-Atta’s detention is “separate and distinct” from that of illegal immigrants.
Mr. Davies said that Mr. Ofori-Atta came to the U.S. on a medical-related visa that is good until February 14 and has asked for an extension. He made it clear that his client didn’t stay in the country longer than his visa allowed and that if Mr. Ofori-Atta were in the country illegally, deportation proceedings would have started right away.
