Abossey Okai Dealers, GUTA Renew Ties—Unity and Dialogue for Stronger Trader Voice!
After what they called “constructive talks” that reset relations between the two groups, the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has renewed its commitment to working with the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA). The two groups met on January 9, 2026, to discuss how to work together again based on mutual respect, dialogue, and shared interests. The renewed involvement comes weeks after the Association pulled out of some GUTA events in December 2025 because of communication problems and worries about not being recognized as leaders during the inauguration of GUTA’s new president. The Association said in a statement signed by Head of Communications Mr. Takyie Addo that follow-up talks had made “significant progress.” Both sides agreed to work together, communicate better, and be more unified, and they also thanked the Councils of Elders for helping to restore trust. Chairman Mr. Henry Okyere Jnr. congratulated the new GUTA President and called for unity, saying, “The problems traders are facing today need cooperation, not division.” “We need to work together as one team to protect our businesses, stabilize the markets, and make a real contribution to national development,” said the Association. They were happy that GUTA had recognized Abossey Okai dealers again and promised to work together more closely to solve problems in the industry and encourage long-term growth.
