Energy Ministry: No Fuel Shortage (Stocks Sufficient Despite Global Oil Price Surge)

Yussif Sulemana, a technical advisor at the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, has told Ghanaians that the country is not in danger of running out of fuel right away. This is despite worries about rising tensions in the Middle East and the global oil market’s instability, with crude prices going over $100 per barrel. He said on Citi FM on March 9 that Ghana has enough fuel on hand to meet short-term demand, but keeping prices stable is still a big problem. Dr. Sulemana said that Tank Farm Operators are working closely with the National Petroleum Authority to keep supply levels steady. If more fuel shipments come into the country’s ports, reserves could last for up to 10 weeks. The Ministry stressed that Ghana’s current fuel supply situation is stable and well-positioned to meet national demand in the near future, even though global disruptions could have an effect on markets over time.
