Ex-AG Dame Demands Retraction, Apology from Kwakye Ofosu Over ‘False’ Mining Claims
Godfred Yeboah Dame, who used to be the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, wants Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister for Government Communications, to take back and apologize for what he said on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana in October 2025. Dame’s lawyers said he didn’t pay attention to a Criminal Investigations Department report about illegal mining involving Akonta Mining because he never saw one while he was in office. He pointed to a Right to Information response from the Office of the Attorney-General Ghana that said no related docket was submitted between 2022 and 2024. The only one that came in was after he left office in September 2025. Dame called the claims false, malicious, and harmful to his reputation, and media personality Paul Adom-Otchere reportedly supported this by saying they were not true. He wants the statements taken down from the internet, a public retraction, and a formal apology within seven days. If they don’t do this, he says he will sue for defamation and damages.
