GH¢7.2 million meant for state cybersecurity landed in director’s personal account, trial hears damning evidence as defence fights back.
Kwabena Adu-Boahene’s trial continued at an Accra High Court on Thursday, May 14, with the third prosecution witness, Mildred Donkor, telling the court that a GH¢7.2 million transfer captured in bank statements was paid into the account of the Director of the National Signals Bureau and not the institution’s general account. During cross-examination by defence counsel Samuel Atta Akyea, the witness maintained that the funds were lodged into the Director’s account despite efforts to establish otherwise. Proceedings were marked by heated exchanges between lawyers for the accused and the Deputy Attorney General over money transfers, exchange rates and transaction authorisations, while Justice Achibonga cautioned defence lawyers against dwelling on exchange rates. Adu-Boahene, his wife Angela Boateng and Advantage Solutions Limited are standing trial over allegations of misappropriating GH¢49 million meant for government cybersecurity software, with the prosecution alleging the funds were channelled through several companies and later used to acquire properties in Accra, Kumasi and London. The case has been adjourned to May 20, 2026, for the continuation of the witness’s cross-examination.
