GH¢400 million KNUST Teaching Hospital gets Asantehene’s blessing, GETFund moves to equip West Africa’s next medical hub.

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), led by its Administrator, Paul Adjei, has paid a working visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to brief him on the award of a GH¢400 million contract for the procurement of modern medical equipment for the new KNUST Teaching Hospital and to provide updates on efforts by the government and GETFund towards the realisation of the project, which forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s broader agenda to strengthen tertiary healthcare infrastructure and position Ghanaian universities as centres of excellence; during the engagement, Mr Adjei outlined the post-contract processes and implementation roadmap, reaffirming GETFund’s commitment to supporting strategic national institutions through investments in education and healthcare infrastructure, while assuring the Asantehene of the Fund’s dedication to the successful execution of the project in line with national development goals and KNUST’s aspirations; Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed appreciation to President Mahama for his commitment to advancing healthcare and tertiary education infrastructure and commended the GETFund Administrator for his efforts towards actualising the vision for the teaching hospital, noting that the establishment and equipping of the facility would significantly improve healthcare delivery in the Ashanti Region and contribute to the expansion of specialised healthcare services nationwide, while emphasising the importance of investing in modern healthcare infrastructure and medical education to improve healthcare outcomes across the country, with the new hospital expected to serve as a major hub for clinical training, medical research and specialised healthcare delivery for Ghana and the wider West African sub-region.
