NPP cured the disease, NDC is just managing the cough, Stephen Amoah says Mahama’s team can’t claim superiority yet.
Former Deputy Finance Minister and MP for Nhyiaeso, Stephen Amoah, has commended Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson for performing creditably but maintained that the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration cannot yet be considered superior to the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, he argued that the NPP had already undertaken significant economic stabilisation under the IMF-supported programme before leaving office, and that the current government inherited lingering effects of a recovering economy. Using a medical analogy, he said the previous administration had treated the core economic “infection,” leaving only residual symptoms that the current government is now managing. Dr Amoah further questioned the measurable economic output of the current administration so far, noting that major spending and policy implementation are still unfolding and that a clearer assessment would only be possible after future Auditor-General’s reports.
