Banker confirms GH¢1.7m and GH¢402k flowed through Adu-Boahene’s account, defence fights back as trial heats up.
A former Relationship Officer of Fidelity Bank, testifying as the third prosecution witness in the trial involving former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has confirmed before the Accra High Court that transactions captured in prosecution Exhibit 15 were reflected in the bank statement of the first accused person. During cross-examination by defence counsel Samuel Atta-Akyea, the witness identified a GH¢1.7 million transfer dated July 9, 2018, and another transaction of GH¢402,000 dated December 3, 2018, as appearing in the documents before the court and confirmed that both entries were reflected in Exhibit 7, the bank statement of Adu-Boahene. She further confirmed that the same statement showed outward transfers of GH¢1.65 million and GH¢400,000 to Bureau of National Communications. An objection by the prosecution, led by Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem-Sai, against questions on the interpretation of the documents was overruled by the presiding judge, Francis Apangabuno Achibonga, who held that the defence was entitled to test the credibility of the witness. The case was adjourned to May 26, 2026, for the continuation of cross-examination.
