GH¢36 million for specialist training, Adjoa Darko-Opoku says Ghana is building its own doctors, nurses, and pharmacists.

Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku said the Ghana Medical Trust Fund has spent more than GH¢36 million on strategic partnerships to improve specialist healthcare training in Ghana. Speaking Monday, May 11, during the government’s Accountability Series, the initiative aims to build a resilient healthcare workforce and improve access to specialist care across the country. She said the Fund was working with the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons to expand specialist training centers and decentralise postgraduate medical education, adding that similar collaborations with the College of Nurses and Midwives and the Ghana College of Pharmacists would help train 100 specialist pharmacists and 100 nurse specialists. Ms Darko-Opoku said the initiative is part of a wider national effort to improve healthcare delivery through sustainable human resource development and long-term investment in Ghana’s health sector.
