Sylvester Tetteh: I Knew Kojo Bamba Would Win NPP First Vice Chairman Race

Sylvester Tetteh, former Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Member of Parliament, says he was convinced Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, would win the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) First Vice Chairman election despite the doubts surrounding his candidacy. Mr Tetteh said his confidence came from what he observed while travelling across the country ahead of the party’s national executive elections, where he found Bamba had built considerable recognition among delegates. “As I travelled the country, I knew he was going to be the first vice chairman of the party. Everywhere I’ve been, you don’t even mention. They mention him,” he said on the Citiuation Room on Channel One TV on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Mr Tetteh attributed the victory to Bamba’s longstanding engagement with the party’s grassroots, particularly his previous work with the NPP’s national youth wing. He said Bamba had served as Director of Operations for the youth wing and had travelled extensively with activists and party executives, allowing him to establish relationships that went beyond his public image. “They’ve known him. That’s what people don’t know; they only look at him as a macho man. And that’s what I get. He slept in trenches with people,” he said. Bamba topped the First Vice Chairman contest with 3,116 votes, narrowly defeating Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, who polled 3,061, while Nana Akomea received 2,981. Mr Tetteh said the result ultimately reflected the judgement of delegates who, despite the public commentary surrounding the candidates, knew what they wanted and voted accordingly.
