$22.6 billion climate price tag, Seidu Issifu says Ghana can’t go it alone: ‘We need global partners to save our communities.
Seidu Issifu said an estimated $22.6 billion will be needed by Ghana to address climate-related challenges and implement sustainable measures to protect vulnerable communities and enhance environmental resilience. The minister said the scale of the climate crisis and the huge cost of adaptation and mitigation interventions made it impossible for Ghana to fund the interventions alone and stressed the need for international collaboration and sustained financial support. He said the government was working with development partners and international organisations, including the European Union, on strategic partnerships to raise climate finance for critical environmental programmes. Speaking at the Government Accountability Series, Mr Issifu said Ghana needs to partner with global partners to get the resources required to advance the country’s climate and development agenda.
