28 Ghanaians rescued from trafficking in Ivory Coast, 44 more from Nigeria, Foreign Ministry warns: verify every foreign job offer.

Twenty-eight Ghanaians, mostly young people have been rescued and repatriated by a joint operation between Ivorian security forces and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Ghanaian Embassy in Abidjan, after they fell victim to a human trafficking network in Côte d’Ivoire. The Ministry said the victims have safely returned to Ghana and are assisting investigations as government authorities praised the collaboration and reiterated efforts to break trafficking syndicates and prosecute perpetrators. It also warned the public to verify foreign employment and travel offers with the concerned government agencies or diplomatic missions to prevent falling into the trap of fraudulent recruitment schemes. In a related development, 44 more Ghanaians (27 men and 17 women) were repatriated from Nigeria after being rescued from suspected trafficking camps linked to a QNET scheme in Akwa Ibom, showing ongoing efforts by government to clamp down on illegal recruitment and Ponzi-related trafficking operations targeting Ghanaians abroad.
