Two years to freedom: A new dual carriageway is coming for the suffering commuters
The dualization of the Tema Community 25–Dawhenya road should be finished in the next two years, according to Kwame Governs Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways The Hon. In an interview, he said that the first part of the project was held up because Ghana’s process for reorganizing its debt affected the business loan that Parliament had cleared. A British company was supposed to handle Tranche 1 at first, but it got stuck. That’s why the government repackaged Tranche 2 as a new “Big Push” project that First Sky Construction would handle. Construction of service roads and interchanges is part of Tranche 1, and widening the main road from Community 25 to the Central University is the major goal of Tranche 2. First Sky was given the Tranche 2 deal, which has a 24-month end date. Minister Agbodza said that the dualization will greatly reduce traffic jams, shorten journey times, and make it easier to move around along this busy and quickly growing route in the Greater Accra Region once it is finished.
