Jinapor charges new PHDC Board to unlock major investments for Ghana’s energy future

John Jinapor, the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, has called on the Board of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), which was inaugurated just recently, to take immediate action in order to attract significant investments across the energy value chain of Ghana. He spoke at the inauguration and emphasized that the Petroleum Hub is critical to the government’s objective of transforming Ghana into a fully integrated energy and petroleum services hub for West Africa. He also encouraged the Board to capitalize on private funding and strategic collaborations in order to foster development in the areas of petroleum storage, transportation, refining, and associated infrastructure. Mr. Jinapor made note of the fact that Ghana currently exports power and petroleum products on a regional level, and he said that operationalizing PHDC would help to bolster the country’s strategic position and will also provide the creation of new economic prospects. The Board of Directors is led by George Blay-Morkeh, while Dr. Toni Aubynn serves as the Acting CEO. Other members of the board include David Ampofo, Francis Tettey-Sackey, Patrick Ofori, Abednego Akuteck, and Dr. Mizpah Ama Dziedzorm Rockson. The Ministry expressed its trust in the fact that the competence of the Board would help to forward the energy reform program of Ghana.
