Feed Ghana. Eat Ghana. Secure the Future. The farming revolution just clocked beast mode

The national reconstruction plan of the administration that is headed by President Mahama prioritizes the agricultural sector, with the emphasis being placed on productivity, innovation, and resilience. Volta Regional Minister James Gunu made the following statement during the launch of the 41st National Farmers’ Day in Ho: “Farmers, fishers, and all those involved in the value chain continue to be crucial to Ghana’s economic recovery. The theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,’ emphasizes the necessity of sustainable farming.” It was via the Volta Economic Corridor that he became aware of the increasing significance of the Volta Region. The corridor is facilitating an increase in the production of rice, aquaculture, cassava processing, and other important agricultural endeavors. Emelia Arthur, the Minister of Fisheries, who was represented by Marian Kpakpa, emphasized that fish provide about 60% of the animal protein that Ghana consumes and commended fishermen and women for maintaining their resilience despite difficulties like as climate change and escalating prices. She emphasized continuing improvements that include the following: enhancing fisheries legislation, increasing aquaculture zones, improving fuel governance, and upgrading landing sites. In addition, traditional leaders and stakeholders have made a plea for environmental conservation in order to sustain the productivity of farms over the long term. In conclusion, the event brought attention to the government’s renewed dedication to the following issues: ensuring food security, promoting livelihoods that are sustainable, and converting agriculture into a more powerful catalyst for national growth.
