Boxing Star Anthony Joshua Survives Fatal Nigeria Car Crash—Two Dead, Champion Stable
Anthony Joshua, a former world heavyweight champion boxer, is doing well after a car crash in Nigeria that killed two people.
Police have confirmed that British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was hurt in a car crash in Nigeria that killed two other people.
The former heavyweight champion was in the car that crashed and killed Latif “Latz” Ayodele (left) and Sina Ghami (right).
The crash happened on Monday morning on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which connects Ogun state to Lagos, the economic capital of Nigeria in the southwest.
The governments of Lagos and Ogun states have released a joint statement saying that two people died at the scene. Joshua and another injured passenger were taken to the hospital but “did not need any emergency medical intervention.”
The police said that the 36-year-old boxer had minor injuries and is now stable. Reports say that Joshua was a passenger in a Lexus SUV when the accident happened. He has family ties to Sagamu, Ogun State.
The Ogun state government says that early reports show that two foreign men died right away.
