Ken Agyapong: Job Creation Vision Sets Me Apart (Confident of NPP Primary Win)

Ken Ohene Agyapong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, says that his vision and track record of creating long-lasting jobs give him an advantage over four other candidates in the party’s presidential primary on Saturday. The former MP for Assin Central, who came in second in the 2023 primary, said he was sure that delegates would vote for him because they liked his campaign message. He also said that he is the best candidate to beat the ruling NDC in 2028. He laid out a plan to turn Ghana into a sustainable industrialized country by using agriculture, tourism, and anti-corruption measures, moving important ministries to key areas, and solving economic problems like high public sector wages with low productivity, reliance on imports, weak fiscal frameworks, and a lack of private sector involvement. He said that his data-driven policies and value-chain approach would change the country’s social and economic structure. He stressed his loyalty to the NPP since 1992, his ability to bring people together, and the broad support he has from the people. The primary will take place with a larger electoral college, which will replace the Special Electoral College. 211,849 delegates from different party structures will vote at 333 polling places around the country and at the party headquarters between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.
