Minority Seeks Answers on Mahama’s Chartered Flights (Demands Transparency on Costs, Procedures)

The Minority in Parliament is worried about President John Dramani Mahama’s recent use of a chartered plane for trips abroad. They want more information about the arrangements and costs involved. Members of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee say that Parliament needs to know how presidential travel works, including how decisions are made about the mode of travel, the makeup of official delegations, and how these trips are paid for. Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, the Deputy Ranking Member on the committee, told Channel One TV that he and Vincent Ekow Assafuah have asked the Ministers for Defence and Foreign Affairs to explain how the President’s travel plans are made and how they are paid for. He said that the Minority has put together records of the President’s official trips abroad and will decide what to do after the ministers give Parliament a briefing.
