Dialysis capacity doubled in Hohoe: new machines, more hope, and 23 patients already served since August

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has given the Volta Regional Hospital in Hohoe two dialysis machines and other important medical equipment to improve kidney care services. The goal is to make it easier for people with kidney disease to get the treatment they need. The donation, led by Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Opoku-Darko and backed by HealthTeach Ghana and Project C.U.R.E., has doubled the hospital’s dialysis capacity, making it possible for more patients from the Volta Region and nearby areas to get treatment. Before this help, the facility only had two machines and had done 1,385 dialysis sessions for 23 patients since August 2024. Dr. Arko Akoto Ampaw, the Medical Director, thanked everyone for their help, saying that it would make things easier for both patients and healthcare workers and improve the quality and long-term viability of care.
