No jobs, no patience: Teacher trainees from all 49 colleges hit the streets, demanding postings, not promises.

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has called for a nationwide protest with trainees from all 49 Colleges of Education to demand that the government act quickly on hiring and posting teachers. The protest is meant to put pressure on the government to allow more trained teachers to be hired and to bring back the system of automatic postings, which made it easy for people to go from training to work. TTAG says that hiring 7,000 teachers recently is not enough to clear the growing backlog of qualified graduates who are ready to work but still don’t have a job. The group is asking the government to act quickly to hire more teachers and keep its promise to restore automatic postings. The demonstration is meant to show how hard it is for newly trained teachers and to make calls for reforms to make the education system stronger.
