EU to Ghana: stay stable, stay open, €150bn Global Gateway package awaits, but only if reforms hold.
European Union Ambassador to Ghana, Rune Skinnnebach, has urged Ghana to maintain its economic and political stability to attract more European investors and strengthen its position as a preferred investment destination in the region. Speaking at a Career Service Centre programme at KNUST on Thursday, May 14, 2026, he stressed that investor confidence would depend on Ghana’s commitment to economic reforms, sound governance and a business-friendly environment. He also warned that instability in the Sahel and neighbouring countries could threaten Ghana’s peace and security, while reaffirming the EU’s support for Ghana’s democratic and development progress. Ambassador Skinnnebach further encouraged Ghana to leverage the EU’s €150 billion Global Gateway Investment Package for Africa to boost development financing and strategic investments, noting that the EU remains Ghana’s largest investor, export market and development partner.
