Free SHS suppliers to picket Education Ministry over GH¢50m debt, ‘We haven’t been paid since 2023,’ NAIS says.

The National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS) has announced plans to picket the
Ministry of Education on June 11, 2026, over the government’s failure to pay about GH¢50 million
owed under the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme. In a statement issued on June 3,
the group said members have not been paid for supplies, including uniforms, house dresses and
school cloths delivered to public senior high schools since 2023, despite repeated engagements with
authorities. NAIS noted that the delays have caused significant financial hardship and are
undermining members’ ability to continue providing essential services, adding that the planned
protest is aimed at drawing government attention and securing payment. The association also urged
the media to cover the demonstration at the Ministry of Education to highlight the urgency of the
issue and encourage swift resolution.
