Michael Otchere Baafi, who is the representative in Parliament for New Juaben South, has commended Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who was formerly the Vice President, for being the most reliable member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). This commendation comes in light of his significant contribution to the NPP during the election petition of 2012. Otchere Baafi addressed the delegates of the New Patriotic Party in Koforidua and said that Dr. Bawumia shown great loyalty and bravery at a time when, in his opinion, many senior party members were hesitant to take the initiative. He said that Dr. Bawumia was the main witness for the party in the proceedings that took place in the Supreme Court and that he strongly fought the NPP’s cause “when all the men in the NPP ran away,” which garnered him praise from people all throughout the party. “Those individuals who were present will remember the event. The person who was on trial, who was subjected to a series of difficult questions, and who provided a spirited and unequivocal defense of the NPP was Dr. Bawumia. Otchere Baafi emphasized, “We are in dire need of leadership of that nature at this time.” He said that the political career of Dr. Bawumia reached a turning point when he gave his performance during the petition, which also helped to strengthen his reputation as one of the party’s most dependable leaders. He claims that the former Vice President has continued to maintain his allegiance to the political party, participating in the drafting of policies and holding a number of different positions. Otchere Baafi encouraged delegates to acknowledge this devotion by supporting Dr. Bawumia in the presidential primary election, which will be held on January 31, 2026. He continued to emphasize that Bawumia is the most suitable candidate to lead the NPP into the general election in 2028 due to his extensive expertise and appeal to the market. “There is no doubt that there is someone who will be there for us again when it counts the most, just as they were there for us throughout our most challenging moments.
