Interior Minister: Prisons Recruitment Is Fair (No Room for Fraud or Favouritism)

Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister for the Interior, told people who applied for jobs at the Ghana Prisons Service Training School screening center in Accra that the hiring process would be fair, open, and based on merit. As part of the Ministry’s job to keep an eye on things, the Minister checked out the facility, watched the screening process, and talked to applicants and officials in charge of it. He stressed that the hiring process is being followed exactly as it should be and warned applicants not to try to get around it or work with fake middlemen who ask for money under false pretenses. He said that anyone who does so would be arrested and charged. The Minister went on to say that a centralized payment system has been put in place to make things more open and cut down on fraud. He also said that strong monitoring systems involving the CID, the Police Intelligence Directorate, the National Signals Bureau, and other security agencies have been put in place to protect the integrity of the exercise. He praised the officers in charge for how well they organized the screening and how well-behaved the applicants were. He also urged other security agencies to follow best practices when hiring and managing their staff.
