Kristo Asafo Founder Revoked Son’s Succession Mandate Before Death – Family

The family of the late Apostle Emeritus Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Safo has revealed that the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission revoked the succession mandate previously granted to his son, Mr. Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, before his passing.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 22, 2026, the family explained that Apostle Kwadwo Safo had appointed Israel Safo as his successor in 2017, entrusting him with the leadership of the church and oversight of the businesses established under the Kristo Asafo conglomerate.

According to the family, several of the businesses experienced significant decline during Israel Safo’s tenure, with some collapsing or nearing collapse. The statement also alleged that core principles of the church were altered and that he increasingly exercised authority without due regard for the founder.

The family stated that these developments led Apostle Kwadwo Safo to revoke the mandate in 2024 and remove all provisions granting such authority from the church’s governing framework.

Following the decision, the late founder reportedly appointed his daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, as Head of the Kwadwo Safo Family and introduced a new succession roadmap for the future leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission.

The statement further noted that the revised succession framework explicitly excluded Israel Safo from consideration for the church’s top leadership position.
