Mahama: EOCO Recovers GH₵600m in Stolen Funds (Crackdown Targets Corruption, Organised Crime!)
As of December 2025, John Dramani Mahama said that the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) had recovered more than GH₵600 million in stolen public funds. They had looked into 462 cases, and 15 of them are still being prosecuted. In his 2026 State of the Nation Address on February 27, he said that more cases are still being looked into and that EOCO has broken up international carjacking rings and gotten back 29 stolen luxury cars. He said that the government will not put up with corruption, no matter who you are or what party you belong to. He also said that the Attorney-General’s Department will continue to prosecute criminals and recover stolen money without having to prove guilt. The investigations are looking into alleged procurement violations, financial theft, money laundering, tax evasion, cybercrime, and cross-border organized crime. They involve former ministry officials, high-ranking officials from state-owned businesses, and private businesspeople who are connected to irregular payments and inflated contracts in Ghana.
