Mahama Launches $250m Glass Factory (KEDA Expansion to Boost Exports, Create 2,000+ Jobs)
John Mahama has broken ground on a $250 million float glass factory in Shama, which is in the Western Region. He has also opened a sanitary ware plant and Phase Five of the tile line by KEDA (Ghana) Ceramics Company Limited. He said that the glass plant, which is supposed to be able to make 1,400 tonnes of glass per day, will cut down on imports, save money on foreign exchange, and bring in about $100 million in exports each year. The tile expansion will increase output to 200,000 square metres per day. In 2025, the company paid GH₵740 million in taxes. This number is expected to rise to more than GH₵1 billion when the new plant is fully operational. The project is also expected to create 2,182 direct jobs. He also said that the investment helps Ghana with its export goals and as the host of the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat.
