New SIM Registration Incoming! Sam George Says Previous Process Was Flawed—Biometrics to Be Matched Properly in 2026. Are You Ready for the Real Deal?

In the first quarter of the year 2026, a new SIM registration process will commence, according to an announcement made by Samuel Nartey George, the Minister of Communications. He contends that the previous registration process, which was carried out during the administration of the former NPP government, is not genuine. He gave an explanation that past registrations were not adequately cross-referenced with a central database in terms of biometrics. The Public Procurement Authority is now in charge of selecting the service provider, and the Legislative Instrument (L.I.) for the process is ready and will shortly be submitted to Parliament for approval. In order to guarantee that every biometric is associated with a certain person, the Ministry has collaborated with the National Identification Authority. As a result of this cooperation, about 80 percent of the data that was previously available has been organized and included to facilitate precise registration. It is important to note that this is a legitimate SIM registration and not a re-registration, as George pointed out.
