NO PERMIT, NO MERCY: EPA LOCKS DOWN CHINESE & LOCAL MINING SHOPS IN WILD CRACKDOWN!
Within the Fanteakwa South District, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) located in the Eastern Region has implemented a significant enforcement operation in the town of Osino. The operation has been directed at enterprises and illicit mining activities that are operating without the necessary permissions. In the course of the investigation, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) confiscated a number of excavators and wheel loaders that were suspected of being engaged in illegal mining operations. In addition, a number of workshops and businesses that were fabricating and welding components for Changfan machines were shut down, as were a number of stores that were selling parts for Changfan machines and mining equipment without the appropriate permits. These shops were run by individuals of both Chinese and Ghanaian descent. Machinery of a heavy-duty kind was found at locations where mining was being conducted without a permit, and it was seized and taken to the regional office of the Environmental Protection Agency in order to be documented appropriately. Sydney Kweku Danso, the Regional Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Director, who was in charge of the team, declared that the Agency will increase its crackdown in accordance with the nationwide prohibition on Changfan machines, making it apparent that neither political intervention nor an appeal will safeguard transgressors, as the enforcement will continue to be strict and unyielding. He urged people and companies to follow the laws that were set out by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in order to ensure that their activities were safe and to assist in the protection of the environment. In addition, Mr. Sydney Kweku Danso indicated that in the days to come, other towns around the Eastern Region would be targeted as the enforcement effort carries on.
