Parents Are Bleeding! — Akim State University Principal Demands Gov’t Intervention.

The principal of Akim State University College, Professor Dominic S.Y. Amuzu, has called on the government to expand the “no fees stress” policy to include students who attend private colleges in order to alleviate the financial pressure on parents. This policy is already in place for students at public institutions. In his address to the college community at Akyem Asene, where the third joint matriculation for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 batches and the fifth congregation were held, he made a plea to the government for assistance and resources that would allow private institutions of higher education to make a meaningful contribution to the development of the country. A total of 174 new students were accepted, and 129 students completed their degrees in a variety of programs, such as accounting, marketing, human resource management, banking and finance, engineering, and computer science. Of them, eighteen students received first-class honors. In addition, Professor Amuzu appealed to the Secretariat of Scholarships and the GET Fund to give priority to students who are enrolled in more recently established private universities and called for business organizations, people who give generously to those in need, and local assemblies to provide assistance to the college. Solomon Nkansah was chosen the top graduating student of the year 2025, while Michael Asirifi was selected the top graduating student of the year 2024. During the ceremony, guest speakers gave high praise to the administration of the university and urged students to continue to be hardworking and disciplined.
