Sanity Africa Poll: Ken Agyapong Leads NPP Race (52% to Bawumia’s 40% Ahead of Jan 31)

According to a poll by Sanity Africa, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is clearly in the lead for the New Patriotic Party’s presidential nomination ahead of the primaries on January 31, 2026. He has 52.0 percent support from delegates, while former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has 40.0 percent. The poll, which was done between October 2025 and January 2026 with a weighted sample of 15,000 delegates from all 276 constituencies, reflects the expanded delegate album of about 211,000 voters and has a 99 percent confidence level with a ±5 percent margin of error. Dr. Bryan Acheampong is in last place with 7.0 percent, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum is in second place with 0.7 percent, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong is in third place with 0.3 percent. Compared to Phase Two in October, Agyapong dropped 1.1 points, Bawumia gained 1.0 points, and Acheampong rose 2.0 points. Sanity Africa calls the race “fluid” and warns that delegate preferences could change in the last few weeks because of campaign messaging, endorsements, and regional mobilization. It also points out that it has been right in the past about who would win elections, such as the Akwatia parliamentary by-election.
